David Tennant pays tribute to Elisabeth Sladen

David Tennant has joined fellow Doctor Who actors Tom Baker, Colin Baker and Matt Smith in paying tribute to the late Elisabeth Sladen.

Tennant says: "I just can't believe that Lis is gone. She seemed invincible. The same woman who enchanted my childhood, enchanted my time on Doctor Who and enchanted generations who have watched her and fallen in love with her – just like I did. I feel very honoured to have shared a TARDIS with Sarah Jane Smith, and I feel very lucky to have shared some time with Lis Sladen. She was extraordinary."

Tennant was a fan of Elisabeth Sladen's "Sarah Jane Smith" during his childhood and they later went on to work together on Doctor Who.

David Tennant and Elisabeth Sladen first starred alongside each other in the 2006 episode "School Reunion" and two years later in 2008's "The Stolen Earth" and "Journey's End".

In 2009, Tennant guest starred in The Sarah Jane Adventures and in 2010, Sladen made a brief appearance in David Tennant's final Doctor Who episode, "The End of Time, Part Two".
