Doctor Who team acquire Daleks from Russell T Davies and The Sun for new episode

The Doctor Who production team have acquired Daleks from Russell T Davies and The Sun for an upcoming episode of the show.

The iconic monsters are being borrowed for episode one of the new series which is written by Steven Moffat and includes every Dalek design since the 1960s.

The Sun have lent their gold model to the BBC which was originally featured in 1972's Day of the Daleks and was acquired by the tabloid in 2004.

Steven Moffat said: "We’d like to assure The Sun we take very good care of all our Daleks and see no harm comes to them during production. Except for the ones the Doctor blows up, of course."

Meanwhile, former Doctor Who producer and writer Russell T Davies has loaned his full-size Dalek model to the corporation.

Moffat's co-executive Caroline Skinner commented: "We’re collecting every Dalek known to man. It’s going to be great."
