Garrick Hagon to appear in Doctor Who

Star Wars actor Garrick Hagon has been cast in the new series of Doctor Who which currently being filmed in Spain, it has emerged.

Genshiken Spain, organisers of the FreakCon convention, wrote on Twitter: "Garrick Hagon, our guest at FreakCon, is currently shooting in Almeria, filming a series of Doctor Who."

Guest actor Rob Cavazos later added: "I am currently working with an actor who was in the first Star Wars film. I am by no means a fanboy, but that's still pretty awesome!"

Hagon appeared alongside Jon Pertwee as rebel leader Ky in the 1972 Doctor Who story The Mutants. His most notable role is as Red Three in Star Wars: A New Hope. The actor's other film credits include The Message, Spy Game and Tim Burton's Batman.

The story which Hagon is appearing will form episode three of the new Doctor Who series and is written by Toby Whithouse. It is set in America's Wild West and is rumored to be titled 'The Gunslingers'.
