Karen Gillan to return for Doctor Who Series 7

Karen Gillan has confirmed that she will be returning to the role of Amy Pond in the next series of Doctor Who.

When asked if her character will be appearing in series 7, Gillan told Zap2it: "I am going to come back, yes. That's the first time I've said that today!"

She will return for her third Doctor Who series alongside Matt Smith as The Doctor. It is currently unclear if Arthur Darvill will return to his role as Rory Williams.

The BBC recently commissioned the series, which consists of 14 episodes, including the 2011 Christmas Special.

Production on the episodes will begin later this year. It is expected that they will be broadcast on BBC One across 2012/13.
