Toby Haynes confirmed for Doctor Who Convention

BBC Worldwide have today confirmed director Toby Haynes as the latest guest to appear at next month's official Doctor Who Convention in Cardiff.

Haynes first worked on The Pandorica Opens and The Big Bang - the finale to Matt Smith's first series as the Doctor. He returned to Doctor Who later that year the direct the Christmas special A Christmas Carol, featuring Sir Michael Gambon and Katherine Jenkins. In 2011, Haynes helmed the two-part The Impossible Astronaut / Day of the Moon. Steven Moffat once again hired the director for the most recent episode of BBC One's Sherlock.

“I love the idea of a Convention with a difference, bringing together all the people who make the show and letting the fans see the script to screen process in person. Often when I meet fans I'm blown away by their knowledge of Doctor Who and their enthusiasm to find out more, this event will go a long way to fulfilling that desire!” said Toby Haynes.

Other guests appearing at the first-ever official Doctor Who Convention include Matt Smith, Arthur Darvill and Steven Moffat. It will take place at Cardiff's Millennium Centre on 24th and 25th March 2012. Tickets can be purchased from
