Matt Smith appears at "The Crash of Elysium"

Matt Smith made a surprise appearance at The Crash of the Elysium yesterday, as part of the Manchester Film Festival.

The theater show is aimed at children aged 6 to 12, and allows them to get involved in an interactive Doctor Who adventure.

On Friday, Smith took time out of his schedule to made a one-off appearance in character in front of 25 fans at a performance of The Crash of Elysium, created by Punchdrunk.

Smith said the show was "a marriage made in creative space heaven".

"I've always watched Punchdrunk shows and marvelled at their inventiveness and individuality," he said.

"Put that together with Doctor Who and there is a wonderful template to tell unique stories in unique ways. The Doctor would definitely approve."
