Doctor Who: The Adventure Games - The Gunpowder Plot

The BBC have released some details regarding the return of Doctor Who: The Adventure Games later this year.

The first game, titled The Gunpowder Plot, sees The Doctor (Matt Smith), Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) along with Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill) battle aliens in London in 1605.

The story, written by Phil Ford and produced by Gary Russell, features Guy Fawkes and the return of two old Doctor Who enemies.

It is executive produced by Steven Moffat, Piers Wenger, Beth Willis, Anwen Aspden and Charles Cecil

The Gunpowder Plot will be the most advanced of the Adventure Games so far. Gamers will be able to play as the Doctor, Amy and Rory, exploring the immersive environments of this historic period. The adventure will feature multi-linear gameplay, even more sophisticated puzzles, and a complex lighting system specifically designed to recreate the atmosphere of 17th Century London. And for the very first time, the introduction of portal technology will enable gamers to experience for themselves that the TARDIS really is bigger on the inside...

The Adventure Games have been downloaded over 2.6 million times since they were launched in 2010. The games are available for free to UK residents.

The Gunpowder Plot will be released via the official Doctor Who website from October. A further three games have been commissioned and will be available at a later date.
