Doctor Who's BBC iPlayer success
Data for the BBC iPlayer indicates that new series of Doctor Who is attracting colossal numbers on the online catch-up service.
"Doctor Who: The Impossible Astronaut" was accessed 1.5 million times in the 12 days following the initial transmission. This figure is nearly three times higher than any other programme managed to attract over the period.
In the same time frame, last year's "Doctor Who: The Eleventh Hour" was downloaded/streamed 1.27 million times and went on the become the most-requested programme ever on the iPlayer with over 2 million views. However, The Impossible Astronaut is on course to beat that record.
Episode 2 of this year's series, "Day of the Moon", was accessed 1.07 million times in the four days following transmission, overshadowing the much-hyped Royal Wedding with 0.62 million.
