Doctor Who Christmas Special Preview on Children in Need tonight
Doctor Who has a long tradition of supporting the charity which helps disadvantaged children in the UK.
In 1983, the 20th anniversary Doctor Who special "The Five Doctors" was broadcast for the first time as part of the annual telethon.
The programme later joined forces with the BBC One soap EastEnders for "Dimensions in Time" in 1993.
David Tennant's first full scene as The Doctor was shown in 2005.
In 2007, Peter Davison returned to the world of Doctor Who in aid of the charity, to star in the Steven Moffat-penned mini-episode "Time Crash" alongside David Tennant.
Previews of the 2008 and 2009 Christmas Specials "The Next Doctor" and "The End of Time" were unveiled on their respective years.
Tune in for Children in Need 2010 from 7.00pm on BBC One tonight for a glimpse of this year's Chirstmas Special "A Chirstmas Carol". The episodes features Matt Smith as The Doctor, Karen Gillan as Amy and Arthur Darvill as Rory alongside guest actors Sir Michael Gambon and Katherine Jenkins.
