Karen Gillan: "Ready to take on the universe!"
At 1pm on 29th May, 2009, it was announced that 21-year old Karen Gillan would be the Doctor's new companion. Karen will star opposite the Eleventh Doctor, played by Matt Smith, when the next series of Doctor Who begins in 2010.
