No full Doctor Who series in 2012
A full series of Doctor Who will not be broadcast on BBC One in 2012, the corporation has confirmed.
Fourteen new episodes of the programme were commissioned last week, however BBC One controller Danny Cohen has said that the entire run will not be shown next year.
Lizo Mzimba, the BBC's entertainment correspondent confirmed the news and said that some of the fourteen episodes 'will go in 2012 and remainder in 2013'.
BBC Broadcaster Wayne Clarke, who was the first to report Cohen's comments on Twitter, said that there will, however, be a 'special run' of Doctor Who in 2013 for the programme's 50th anniversary.
The remaining episodes of series six will go out on BBC One this Autumn, to be followed by a Christmas Special for 2011. It is expected that the first half of series seven will be broadcast next year, with the remaining half in 2013, to allow an additional special series to celebrate the programme's 50th anniversary later that year.
