Eric Cantona in Doctor Who?
An article published by the Daily Star today claims that Eric Cantona is being lined up to play an 'evil alien' in the next series of Doctor Who.
The former Manchester United footballer and actor has been reportedly cast in the show after Matt Smith suggested him to head writer and executive producer, Steven Moffat. The 'news'paper quote Smith as saying: “I’d like Eric to do one and I’ve mentioned it to Steven Moffat. Eric’s got to be bad.”
An unnamed BBC 'insider' said: “Matt has made a huge impression. The writers and producers all value his input and give his ideas careful consideration. They like the thought of a French baddie and Eric would be perfect. He’s got acting experience and has charisma.”
The Daily Star have a history of lame and lazy reports so this one should be taken with a pinch of salt until it is confirmed by an official BBC source.
