The Doctor voted 'Greatest Screen Doctor'

The character of the Doctor in Doctor Who has been voted 'greatest screen doctor of all time' in a poll conducted by OnePoll.

William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann, Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant and Matt Smith have all played the character since Doctor Who began in 1963.

A OnePoll spokesman said: ''Doctor Who is a national treasure who has been on our screens for almost half a century now.

''David Tennant reinvigorated this fictional character and the show has seen huge success since.''
