Steven Moffat SFX Online Interview

SFX have today published the first part of their exclusive interview with Doctor Who's new showrunner, Steven Moffat, online.

Interview extract:
SFX: You must be excited to finally get your hands on the show…
Steven Moffat: “It’s incredibly exciting. And I suppose it’s exciting now because it’s public. It’s been like making a show in secret – or what we laughably call secret. I think the point about Doctor Who, and why it’s brilliant, is that it’s not like one of those boring shows that occasionally changes a star or a producer – it changes with every ruddy story, and that’s why it’s good. It’s a very, very simple format that hasn’t really changed very much since the mid ’60s, quite honestly. What you do with Doctor Who is change it every time the TARDIS lands somewhere new. You step out of the doors and it’s a different genre, it’s a different style. And we sit there and have meetings about how we’re going to do it this week – are we comedy? Is it a romance? I think that every time you start a new episode you ask, ‘What show is it this time?’ That’s why it’s been around so long and still feels new, even though it’s ancient.”

Click here to read the first part of the interview in full at SFX.co.uk. Part two will be published tomorrow.

Matt Smith on 'Gay Times' Magazine Cover

Matt Smith is the cover star on this month's issue of Gay Times magazine. The magazine includes interviews with the Doctor himself, Matt Smith, his new companion Karen Gillan (Amy Pond), Arthur Darvill (Rory), Alex Kingston (River Song), Steven Moffat (Head Writer/Executive Producer), Piers Wenger (Executive Producer) Ray Holman (Costume Designer), Mark Gatiss (Writer, Episode 3) and Gareth Roberts (Writer, Episode 11).

Extract from Matt Smith's interview:
What’s gorgeous about it is that I get to sort of confess to my imagination every day. So I get to play around in a mad, imaginary world every day, which is limitless and timeless, and endless and boundless. You know, that is as close as you get to sort of magic really, I suppose, in many ways.

Extract from Steven Moffat's interview:
“The thing is, right, I’ll take Patrick Moore, fine. But I definitely haven’t got an underwear model’s body, no way, not on this schedule. All my gym’s gone out the window. God no, I take that as a gross over-compliment to be honest. And also! When the hell has Steven Moffat seen me in my pants alone?”

The magazine is on sale from today at the price of £3.85.
